📦 Installation Guide

Different VirtualDJ versions may have different installation locations. Follow the guide that matches your version.

⚠️ Important: Cracked VirtualDJ Versions

Our plugins may not work with cracked versions of VirtualDJ 2024 or earlier.

Cracked/pirated versions of VirtualDJ often have modified code that prevents third-party plugins from functioning correctly. We only support legitimate, licensed versions of VirtualDJ.

If you're using a cracked version: Our plugins are not guaranteed to work, and we cannot sometimes provide support for installation or functionality issues.

⚠️ This is a requirement - we need to know to provide accurate support

💡 Common Issue: Legacy Installation Paths

Most problems occur when VirtualDJ has been continuously updated from older versions (e.g., 2021 → 2024).

Legacy Path (Pre-2025):

C:\Users\[username]\Documents\VirtualDJ

Used by VirtualDJ 2024 and earlier versions

New Path (2025-2026):

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\VirtualDJ

Used by fresh installations of VirtualDJ 2025 and newer

Why? VirtualDJ continues using old path locations from the original installation.

Solution: If you completely delete VirtualDJ and wipe all settings/playlists, the new version will install into the AppData folder with fresh paths.

⚠️ Note: This will delete all your settings, playlists, and custom configurations

🔍 Find Your VirtualDJ Version

  1. Open VirtualDJ
  2. Click Settings (gear icon)
  3. Look for About VirtualDJ or Version in the menu
  4. Note your version number (e.g., 2023, 2024, 2025, 8.x, etc.)

VirtualDJ 8.x (Latest Version)

Method 1: BAT File Installation (Easiest)

  1. Download the plugin ZIP file from your dashboard
  2. Extract the ZIP file
  3. Double-click the .bat file in the extracted folder
  4. The BAT file will automatically install the plugin to the correct location
  5. Restart VirtualDJ when prompted

⚡ Fastest Method: The BAT file automatically detects your VirtualDJ installation and copies files to the correct location. No need to manually select folders!

Method 2: VirtualDJ Auto-Install

  1. Download the plugin ZIP file from your dashboard
  2. Extract the ZIP file
  3. In VirtualDJ, go to Settings → Effects
  4. Click Add Effect and browse to the extracted folder
  5. Select the folder and VirtualDJ will auto-install
  6. Restart VirtualDJ when prompted

💡 Automatic: VirtualDJ will automatically detect and install the plugin to the correct folder.

Method 3: Manual Copy to Folder

  1. Extract the ZIP file
  2. Press Windows Key + R to open Run dialog
  3. Paste this path and press Enter:
C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\VirtualDJ\

This will open the correct VirtualDJ folder automatically

  1. Follow the plugin's specific instructions for folder placement
  2. Common plugin folders include:

💡 Important: Always follow the specific plugin's installation instructions. Different plugin types go in different folders (e.g., video plugins in VideoEffect, audio plugins in SoundEffect, etc.).

VirtualDJ 2023-2025

    • C:\VirtualDJ\Effects (if installed to C:\)
  3. Copy the plugin folder into the Effects folder
  4. Restart VirtualDJ

🔧 Installation Troubleshooting

Plugin Not Found After Installation

  • Try all installation methods above for your VirtualDJ version
  • Check if the plugin folder contains the plugin files (not just the ZIP)
  • Ensure the Effects folder has correct permissions
  • Try installing in a different location and restart VirtualDJ

VirtualDJ Can't Find Plugin

  • Make sure the plugin folder is not nested inside another folder
  • Check that VirtualDJ is fully closed before copying files
  • Verify the plugin is compatible with your VirtualDJ version
  • Try the automatic installation method first

Permission Errors

  • Run VirtualDJ as Administrator
  • Check folder permissions for the Effects directory
  • Temporarily disable antivirus if blocking installation

    3. C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\VirtualDJ\Effects\
    4. C:\Program Files\VirtualDJ\Effects\
  • Verify VirtualDJ version compatibility

Plugin Not Working

Solution:

  • Verify you're logged into your account
  • Check your purchase is completed
  • Ensure the plugin is properly installed

Device Limit Reached

Solution:

  • Go to your dashboard
  • Deactivate unused devices
